A Splash Hit: Halo Leisure and the Trustees of Tenbury Community Pool Trust Celebrate a Landmark First Year

One year after the social enterprise Halo Leisure took the reins of the Tenbury Community Pool, the partnership is celebrating a phenomenal 12 months of getting the local community “more active, more often.”

Since officially stepping in on April 1, 2025, the registered charity has overseen a healthy surge in engagement.

Year One: By the Numbers:

The impact of the new management is reflected in the impressive data recorded over the last year:

11,978 total visits to the facility.
562 new residents signed up for memberships.
10,511 gym and swim sessions completed.
4,398 swimming lessons delivered, with 456 children on Swimming lessons
161 fitness classes hosted, engaging 1,467 participants.

Investment and Innovation
The success of the past year is rooted in a strong partnership with the Tenbury Community Pool (TCP) Trustees, who have invested heavily in the site’s infrastructure.

Highlights of the year include:

  • New Equipment: The facility has seen a significant upgrade with the arrival of new equipment and specialised swim school gear. Key additions to the fitness suite include a Recumbent bike and a Johnny G spin bike, alongside 11 new Indoor Cycling bikes specifically brought in to power the new group exercise programme.
  • Enhanced Programming: The centre saw the successful relaunch of the Friday Night Project—a vital continuation of the partnership with the YMCA to provide free youth sessions in the pool, ensuring local young people have a safe, active space to socialise.
  • Family Fun: The introduction of the popular “Inflatable Challenge” during school holidays, made possible by the Trustees’ investment in a brand-new pool inflatable.

“Reaching this one-year milestone with such incredible figures is a testament to the strength of the Tenbury community,” says Richard Preece, Halo Leisure’s Partnership Manager. “From the 456 children learning essential life skills in our pool to the thousands of visits to our gym and classes, the momentum is inspiring. We are deeply grateful to the Trustees of Tenbury Community Pool for their investment in the new equipment and the inflatable, which has brought a real sense of excitement back to the water. Our goal was to create a space where everyone feels welcome to improve their wellbeing, and this is just the beginning.”

Looking Ahead
Halo Leisure and the TCP aren’t slowing down. In the coming months, the facility plans to expand its inclusivity with the launch of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) swim sessions. and to review and upgrade the provision in the gym. Visitors can also look forward to social improvements, including the installation of a new coffee machine to enhance the community atmosphere in the spectator area.

“The Trustees of Tenbury Community Pool are pleased with the progress made during the first year by Halo Leisure. The staff provide a safe and welcoming environment which is enjoyed by our community as we strive to provide a health and wellbeing centre for all ages to enjoy.” says Adrian Taylor, Chairman for the Trustees of Tenbury Community Pool.
