A New Era for Much Wenlock Leisure Centre
Partnership Launches with Major Investment
Today marks an exciting new chapter for our community as Halo Leisure and Much Wenlock Leisure Centre officially launch their partnership. Our mission is simple: to get “more local people more active more often”.
Based at William Brookes School, Halo is now responsible for running the centre’s facilities, and we are starting Day 1 with a commitment to major improvements.
Transforming Your Facilities
We have big plans to enhance the centre, starting with a £75k transformation of the Gym. This project is made possible thanks to funding from Shropshire Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Halo Leisure.
What’s coming to Much Wenlock?
A Vision for the Community
This 10-year agreement secures leisure provision across both Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth Endowed Leisure Centres, strengthening the bond between our schools and local residents.

Ruth Shaw, Headteacher at William Brookes School, shared her delight:
“The planned improvements will enhance the daily experience of our young people and provide high-quality facilities for local families to enjoy. This investment strengthens our school vision: healthy body, healthy mind.”
Councillor James Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for housing and leisure, highlighted the power of partnership:
“By bringing Halo together with The 3–18 Education Trust, we’re helping to secure a long-term future for the leisure centre while protecting access to high-quality facilities for local people.”
