THE HALO ACTIVE COMMUNITIES TEAM
IMPROVING HEALTH AND WELLBEING ACROSS BRIDGEND COUNTY
Thinking positive. Forming partnerships. Reaching more.
Halo Leisure, sees every day the power that health, exercise and social activities have on people’s physical and mental wellbeing. We know how that power shapes positive change in the communities Halo serves.
As a Social Enterprise and Registered Charity we are all about #PeopleBeforeProfits which means no shareholders and all profits ploughed back into enhancing leisure opportunities for local communities.
Our Active Communities Team is here to help people for whatever reason find exercise a challenge – this might be due to age, illness, disability or a mobility difficulty. We also support local employers who want to put workplace wellbeing on the agenda and support their staff to get more active and lead healthier lifestyles. Working with a range of partners the Team delivers an exciting menu of projects (many of which are award winning!) with the main aim of making physical activity inclusive, making a difference by supporting local communities and improving lives.
Leisure opportunities for people (& their families) living with dementia, feeling lonely or low to be active & to socialise.
Working with health professionals & accommodation providers to help reduce the frequency & risk of life changing injuries from falls.
Our programme makes a range of adjustments to support children with autism, helping to ensure that swimming lessons are accessible & enjoyable.
Supporting the work of the network of local sports clubs – with funding, recruitment, marketing & advice on other issues (be it GDPR or health & safety).
We are proud to support today’s & tomorrow’s local athletes to ensure they can achieve their potential and progress their sporting careers.
Supporting people referred by their GP to make & maintain healthier lifestyle choices to improve their health & wellbeing.
As a volunteer you will be a member of this community, networking with and working alongside incredible people and using your skills.
We work with local companies and groups to promote health and wellbeing through being more active, more often.
Our holiday activities give children the opportunity to make new friends, discover new interests, sports and activities, and stay fit and healthy.
Providing unpaid carers with the opportunity to enjoy exercise, relaxation and wellbeing sessions, stress relief techniques, nutrition and diet advice and support for a healthy lifestyle.
We are moving towards a future with fewer Covid restrictions and returning not only to ‘normal’, but new, better normal where health and happiness (at home and work) is everyone’s top priority.
We’d love to hear from you if:
• You feel you would benefit from one of our support programmes to help you take practical steps to add physical/social activity into your life.
• Know someone who would benefit from specialist support, advice, and guidance.
• You are a health professional, community group, social housing association, care home setting, etc, who would like to explore a collaborative approach to supporting the people you work with, connect with others and move more.
