October 10th is World Mental Health Day, an opportunity to raise awareness and to fight social stigma around an issue that impacts on everyone of us. So this month we’re giving a shout out and signposting charities like the Mental Health Foundation who have made sure this issue is everyone’s business and on a par with work promoting the importance of physical health. They know, as we do, that every one of us can be blindsided by feelings of stress or fear or loneliness that don’t pass and which can, if we don’t seek help, develop into more serious problems. And they know, as we do, that exercise can help prevent that by increasing self-esteem, forging friendships and reducing stress and anxiety.
