£100k Refurbishment Is Coming to Much Wenlock Leisure Centre!

£100,000 Refurbishment for Swimming Pool Changing Facilities at Much Wenlock Leisure Centre!

We are excited to share some fantastic news with our community! Building on our recent site investments, Much Wenlock Leisure Centre is receiving a £100,000 upgrade dedicated entirely to transforming our swimming pool changing areas and showers.

Work is scheduled to commence on Monday 27th July and is expected to be completed by Friday 28th August 2026.

Best of all? There will be zero downtime! The swimming pool and all regular activities will remain 100% open and running as normal throughout the duration of the project.

What’s Changing?

This significant investment will modernise our changing spaces to enhance your overall visit. Key improvements include:

  • Brand-New Showers: High-performance, modern shower facilities.

  • Upgraded Lighting: Sleek, energy-efficient lighting throughout the facilities.

  • New Flooring: Fresh flooring across all changing areas.

  • Upgraded Lockers: Secure, modern lockers operated via padlocks.

  • Refreshed Cubicles

Funding & Strategic Partnerships

This project has been made possible through Shropshire Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) fund, which re-invests local development contributions into vital community facilities.

We are also delighted to work alongside our valued partners at 318 Education Trust. By carrying out these works during the school summer holidays while the school facilities are quiet, we can utilise alternative spaces and ensure our public swimming schedule remains completely uninterrupted!

What You Need to Know for Your Visit

While our main poolside changing areas are undergoing their facelift, we’ve put a smooth temporary system in place so you don’t miss a single swim:

  • Alternative Changing Rooms: When you visit, you will be directed to use our spacious Team Changing Rooms. Clear signage will be posted throughout the centre to direct you.
  • Guided Pool Access: Because the main changing rooms will be cordoned off, you won’t be able to enter the pool deck via the usual doors. Our team will be right there on hand to guide you through the alternative route directly to the water.
  • Bring Your Towel Poolside: Since there is a short walk from the alternative changing rooms to the pool, we strongly recommend taking your towel, robe, or poolside footwear down to the pool deck with you so it’s warm and waiting when you finish your swim!
  • Lockers & Security: Our new locker setup will require a padlock. While temporary arrangements are in place, please feel free to bring your own padlock or check in with reception if you need to purchase one.
