Neurodiversity Celebration Week

Celebrating Every Splash

At Halo, we believe that the joy of the water should be accessible to everyone. This Neurodiversity Celebration Week (March 16th–20th), we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible swimmers who move in their own unique way—and the specialised programmes that help them thrive.

For many children and adults with SEN (Special Educational Needs) or ALN (Additional Learning Needs), a busy public pool or a mainstream swimming lesson can feel overwhelming. Sensory distractions, loud noises, and “one-size-fits-all” teaching styles can sometimes get in the way of the fun.

That’s why we are so proud to offer a range of sensory-friendly sessions and specialised lessons across our centres. Whether it’s through play-led learning or a quiet, calm environment, we are here to celebrate every milestone, no matter how small.

SEN & ALN Support at Your Local Halo Centre

We know that every swimmer has different needs. Here is a guide to the specialised support available at our featured centres:

ALN Swimming Lessons at Bridgend Life Centre

Tailored specifically for children with Additional Learning Needs, these smaller classes prioritise sensory play and a pace that follows the child’s lead.

Small groups that move away from standard schemes to focus on learning through play and individual communication.

Dedicated S.E.N.D Public Swim at Hereford Leisure Pool

Quiet, sensory-friendly slots for adults and children with disabilities. We turn off the music and announcements and lower the capacity to ensure a peaceful experience.

Autism Swim Programme at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre

We run a globally recognised Autism Swim programme. Our instructors are specially trained to understand sensory processing and provide an expert-led, supportive environment for neurodiverse swimmers.
