Our team of trained swimming teachers offer a superb inclusive swimming programme at our four pools in Herefordshire. The programme is available to children (from 4 months), and the classes ensure improved water confidence and swimming technique while allowing children to progress at their own pace.
We offer a free-swimming skills assessment for children with one of our qualified swimming instructors - a gentle, fun session to assess your child's confidence in the water and to advise parents or carers on the next step in developing the young person's swimming ability and confidence in the water and the lessons they need to keep them safe. Swim-A-Song for infants from 4-24 months
A beautifully relaxing and innovative way to introduce your baby to the pool, this allows you both to play and exercise to music with a team of new water buddies. Swim-A-Song sessions are available at Hereford Leisure Pool and Leominster Leisure Centre and are half an hour, weekly sessions.
Discovery Ducklings & Duckling Lessons for 2- 4 year olds
We'll help them to swim, with the aid of fun, games, floats and 4 grades of colourful Duckling Award badges they can achieve along the way. Watch your little one reach for the top award as they jump, duck under and swim 5 metres unaided.
Discovery Ducklings lessons are aimed at 2-3 year olds and a parent/guardian joins the child in the pool.
Ducklings lessons are aimed at 3-4 year olds who are supported in the water by a swimming instructor. Parents/guardians do not join the child in the pool.
Duckling & Discovery Ducklings lessons are half an hour. Lessons are available at Hereford Leisure Pool, Ross Swimming Pool & Leominster Leisure Centre

Swim Tots for children from 12 weeks - 5 years
These are bookable public swim sessions that are super fun, where floats, toys and nursery rhymes add to the fun.

Group lessons for children from 4 years+
These weekly half-hour sessions are for children who are confident enough to get in the pool without you. They'll work (at their own pace) through 7 stages to become confident, competent swimmers and then have the opportunity to move to stages 8-10 to develop additional skills like diving.

One-to-one Lessons- Private Swimming Lessons
Benefit from half an hour weekly slots throughout the month with individual teaching from a Halo swimming instructor. A great way to reinforce what is being taught in a group lesson or for children who enjoy a more personal, bespoke approach.

Accessible lessons for children with disabilities
We want to find a way to help all children have fun in the pool while learning to swim so please contact your local Halo pool and speak with the Swimming Co-ordinator to discuss your children's needs and we'll find the programme to suit, either on our main swimming programme or via dedicated sessions.
Water Polo lessons
This may be the most fun you've ever had in a pool, learning water skills while competing in teams of seven. You will develop good all-over body strength and strong swimming skills. If you already play football or rugby and enjoy swimming then you'll love water polo. Children must be 8+ and able to swim in deep water. These sessions take place at Hereford Leisure Pool.
Lifesaving lessons and club
Survive and Save Club: 12 Years+: Survive and Save is for anyone aged 12 and above. You can pick up Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards by learning water safety skills as well as personal survival, rescue and fitness techniques. You need to book and pay in advance for a block of up to 13 weeks or pay by direct debit for £28.60 per month, or £18.15 for children if you're an Easy card holder (for those on means-tested benefits).
Rookie Lifeguard Club - 8-12 Years: The Rookie Lifeguard programme is a fun water safety award scheme for children ages 8-12 years old. Via nine core awards, the programme teaches children how to stay safe around water and what to do in an emergency. You need to book and pay in advance for a block of up to 13 weeks or pay by direct debit for £28.60 per month, or £18.15 for children if you're an Easy card holder (for those on means-tested benefits).
Kinder Club: This is the only life-saving club for 3 to 5-year-olds in the country. Simply pay as you go at £3.80 per session.
