Recently Emily, one of our members, had the opportunity to try out our Boditrax scan as part of the Wye Valley NHS Trust Workplace Wellbeing programme. Her and her husband had been on a significant weight loss and lifestyle journey, but they were struggling with the scales and feeling lost about how much to eat and how to have a positive mindset around food.
I was struggling with ‘the scales’; fearing weight gain even when I was strength training and running 5-6 times a week. I was a bit ‘lost’ with how much to eat and how I could develop a positive mindset about eating ‘more’ to see good results in muscle gain but losing fat too. I was beginning a slight downward spiral in terms of a binge and restrict cycle, with my mental health facing peaks and troughs.” said Emily.

When Emily and her husband returned for a follow-up scan four weeks later, they were initially disappointed that they had gained weight, But the fitness professionals supporting them encouraged them to delve deeper into their results - “We did and it had become clear that in fact I had gained 2kg of muscle and lost 0.5kg of fat. Making my ‘weight gain’ actually muscle! Something I was then super pleased with as I had been working on eating more and lifting heavier targeting my glutes and core.”
