Health and Safety Policy Statement

Safety Policy:

Health and Safety Policy Statement

Ensuring the health and safety of employees, customers and other people affected by Halo Leisure’s activities is an integral part of managing the operation. Accidents and ill health at work can result in human suffering, legal liability and a financial cost in terms of the price of insurance premiums and poor service.

This document states Halo Leisure’s policy on health and safety and describes the arrangements for carrying out the policy.

It is the policy of Halo Leisure to take all measures, which are reasonably practicable to:

  • Secure the health, safety, security and welfare of all employees whilst at work.

  • Ensure the health and safety of visitors, contractors, clients, service users, members of the public and other people who may be affected by the Trust’s activities.

Halo Leisure will provide the necessary resources and seeks the co-operation of all employees for the purpose of implementing the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and all other relevant health and safety legislation enabled by the Act.

Halo Leisure will create a cross site Health and Safety Working Group who, along with the senior management, accept prime responsibility for health and safety management. This group under the guidance of the Health and Safety Group Manager will also set and publish health and safety objectives.

Where appropriate, contractors and other people involved in Trust activities will be required to comply with this policy.

Halo Leisure undertakes to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable:

  • The provision and maintenance of safe plant, safe systems of work, safe working environment and a safe place of work.

  • Safe use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances.

  • The provision of health and safety training for all personnel in relation to their jobs.

  • The definition of employees’ responsibilities for health and safety whilst at work as outlined in General Arrangements Policy.

  • To instil a proactive approach towards reducing hazards through creating a culture of risk assessment and reduction, and ensuring that near misses or potential hazards are monitored, recorded and minimised where reasonably possible.

  • The provision of adequate instruction and supervision.

  • The promotion of employee involvement and consultation in health and safety at work.

  • The provision of necessary information on health and safety to all personnel.

  • The identification of hazards and the notification of such hazards to the persons who may be at risk.

  • The reporting, recording and investigation of accidents, cases of occupational ill health and dangerous occurrences as listed in Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrence Regulations 2013.

  • The monitoring of health and safety performance through specific performance indicators.

  • The provision of occupational health services, including first aid facilities.

  • The compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation, approved codes of practice, Health and Safety Executive guide notes and Halo Leisure’s Policies and Procedures.

  • To display, and comply with, the guidelines of Health Executive’s Health and Safety Law Poster.

  • The review and amendment of this Health and Safety Policy as appropriate to maintain its currency and effectiveness.
