Carers
A carer is anyone, including children and adults, who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.
If you tell us you are a carer, we will accept that at face value and we’ll support you where we can.
When you take part in an activity with the person for whom you care we will not charge you an admission fee. The person for whom you care will pay the appropriate admission fee. For booked activities, please contact us in advance and we will be happy to help.
Paid Carers: Please contact us to discuss how we can help your service users to get active.

In the changing rooms and toilets please help us to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. Use the bins provided and report any cleanliness concerns to our staff.

Special Rules for Families, Children and Young People
Swimming Pool Public Sessions and Private PartiesTo ensure the safety of children, it is necessary to keep them under constant supervision in the swimming pool and the surrounding areas. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by a responsible person who must go into the water with the children they are supervising. A single responsible person may supervise up to two children under the age of 8. While in the pool, the responsible person should maintain a constant watch over the children and stay in close contact (within arm’s reach) with those who are weak or non-swimmers. Weak swimmers and non-swimmers should remain in areas where they can touch the bottom of the pool with their feet. Non-swimmers should wear appropriate buoyancy aids that fully support their weight in the water and that remain secure both in and out of the water. It is important to note that hand-held buoyancy aids are not considered appropriate. We recommend using swimming aids that are in good condition, meet British Safety Standards, and are suitable for the child’s age. |
Changing RoomsYou may bring children of any gender aged under 8 years with you into the changing room. If you are with an older child and would like to change with them, please speak to the manager and we will try to help. |
Courses, including swimming lessonsWhen children under the age of 8 take part in our course programme, it is important that a responsible person remains on the premises. We ask you to be available in case we need your assistance, but you could use the opportunity to take part in another activity in the centre. There are separate rules for camps and similar situations where you will have the option to leave the premises. If you would like more information about these specific rules, please feel free to ask for further details. |
Group ExerciseGroup exercise classes are open to young people who have started high school, or are of high school age. Our instructors will try to provide equipment adaptations and alternatives to ensure inclusive participation. However, this may not always be possible. Please ask for advice before booking. Some group exercise programmes have their own age limits. These will be clearly stated on advertising and at the time of booking. |
Halo GymThe gym is open to young people who have started high school and are of high school age.
