Halo Exercise Referral Programme

GP recommends you do some exercise?

If you have a health condition, are at risk of developing chronic disease, or are recovering from an operation or injury and haven’t exercised for a long time, your doctor may recommend you start to do some physical activity to improve your health and wellbeing. We know that, for you, this may be a worrying time and getting more physically active can be challenging. Be assured that our registered exercise professionals will find an activity that’s just right for you and then offer one-to-one support to gently increase your activity levels and quickly improve your overall health.

With the Exercise Referral Programme you benefit from:

  • A consultation and subsequent checkups with a fully qualified, specially trained Exercise Professional for up to 12 months.
  • Personalised Activity Plan – to suit your age, ability, current fitness levels, time available.
  • Weekly supported activity sessions.
  • A variety of activities at a discounted price whilst you are on the scheme.
  • Usage of Halo facilities including our gyms, pools, group exercise classes, sauna & steam room facilities, toning suite, golf, cycle track and athletics track.
  • Ongoing advice and guidance from a fitness instructor who is experienced and sympathetic to the needs of people who haven’t been active for some time.

How do I get on the programme?

If you feel that you would benefit from the Exercise Referral Programme speak to your GP/practice nurse/health professional about being referred.

When you have been referred…

Your doctor will refer you to Halo electronically, and one of our Exercise Professionals will then get in touch with you. Please ensure that your contact details at your doctor’s surgery are correct, as we won’t be able to contact you otherwise.

Your first appointment will be with one of our Exercise Professionals who will find out a little more about your health history, carry out some basic health checks and discuss the range of activities that are suitable for you. They will then continue to help and support you throughout the scheme.

Cost

  • After your consultation, we will discuss the best options with you. You can enjoy flexible access on a pay-as-you-go basis or opt for a membership plan for unlimited benefits.
