Autism Friendly Swimming
Building Water Confidence and Life-Saving Skills in a Sensory-Friendly Environment
At Halo Leisure, we prioritise water safety as a vital life skill. Research shows that children on the autism spectrum are often naturally drawn to water but may not perceive its dangers.
Halo Leisure is dedicated to providing safe, accessible, and sensory-friendly aquatic opportunities across our centres in Wales and England. We combine expert-led specialised swimming lessons with adjusted pool environments to ensure every neurodiverse swimmer can enjoy the water with confidence and safety.
Autism Swim Approved Centres
These centres deliver the globally recognised Autism Swim programme, featuring instructors specifically trained in sensory processing and neurodiverse aquatic safety.
Rockhopper SEN Swimming Lessons
Our Rockhopper programme is designed for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). These lessons move away from traditional grading schemes to focus on learning through play and individual milestones.
ALN (Additional Learning Needs) Lessons
Tailored specifically for children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), focusing on a child-led pace and sensory comfort.
How To Start Autism Friendly Swimming Lessons
The best way to start is to get in touch with our dedicated community team. Please email autism-swim@haloleisure.org.uk
Once we receive your email, our team will provide further information on current availability, pricing, and the specific timetable for your nearest Halo centre. To ensure the best experience, our specialist instructors may arrange an informal assessment. This helps us place the swimmer in a group where they will feel most safe and confident.
See for yourself why our autism friendly swimming lessons attract funding from BBC Children In Need and also national awards!
