Hello From Halo – the new people behind Cwmbran Stadium, Bowden & Pontypool Active Living Centres, Fairwater Leisure Centre and Snowsport Torfaen
We are an award winning social enterprise and registered charity and we are bringing our expertise in getting more people more active to Torfaen County (from Tuesday 1st April 2025).
There are exciting plans for the leisure facilities thanks to a new partnership between Torfaen Council and Halo Leisure. The partnership means the Council will still own the building and facilities and have a big say on how they are run and developed, especially when it comes to what’s on offer. Award winning social enterprise Halo Leisure will be responsible for managing and maintaining the leisure centre from 1st April 2025.
For over twenty years Halo Leisure has helped the people of Bridgend County, Merthyr Tydfil, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Gloucester, Stratford, Worcestershire and Wiltshire to live a healthier and more active life by managing the leisure centres and swimming pools on behalf of local communities.
Halo is a social enterprise and registered charity. This means that we don’t have shareholders and any surplus money is put back into the services and facilities. This helps to keep costs low and offer outstanding value for money so everyone can enjoy an exciting range of activities.
We’ve won multiple national awards, in recognition of our work to develop leisure opportunities for local people.
Your current agreement will automatically move over to Halo so you can continue to enjoy your favourite activities. There is nothing for you to do – Halo will handle this for you. The only difference you will see is that your monthly membership Direct Debit will show on your bank statement as being collected by Halo Leisure.
Swimming lessons – it’s business as usual. Please continue to turn up to your lesson with your favourite instructor at the usual day and time.
Leisure apps offer fitness at your fingertips. They give you easy access to offers, timetables and the ability to book and cancel activities quickly and easily.
As we move over to a new booking system, here’s what it means for you:
Activity bookings from 17th April until 23rd April are still available via app. From 24th April the existing app will no longer be available. Future bookings should be made on the NEW Halo app.
The NEW halo app is ready for you to download NOW:
- From 24th April – all bookings can now be made using the new Halo Leisure App
- It’s free to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- You will need to re-register to make bookings on the NEW Halo APP – you only need to do this once. To make it easier you can use the same email and password you currently use for bookings.
- Once downloaded, simply search for your centre and make your bookings for your favourite activities as normal:
- Cwmbran Stadium
- Pontypool Active Living Centre
- Fairwater Leisure Centre
Don’t worry – future bookings you’ve already made will automatically transfer over to our new system!
We recommend you book all activities – swimming, aqua group exercise, gym and racket sports sessions on the app. This secures your spot and also lets the Centre know who is attending and makes it easier for us to contact you in the rare event we have to cancel an activity.
UPDATE 24/04/2025
-We’re currently updating our systems to ensure everyone can access the new Halo App and book their activities.
Unlike many leisure operators we don’t believe in lengthy contracts. All we ask is that you give 28 days notice before your next direct debit payment is due if you want to leave – but with so many activities why would you?
There are no immediate plans to make any significant changes to the buildings. We are keen to start making some minor improvements and will update you as soon as we can.
You will be pleased to hear that the friendly staff team you know and love will continue to welcome you for your work out or wind down.
