FEEL
GOOD
FOR LIFE ...
Leisure opportunities for people living with dementia, feeling lonely or low to be active and to socialise.
Here at Halo we know it is easy to get stuck indoors and can be hard to get out, get moving and to meet new people.
We also know that those hurdles are huge if you’re caring for family, or living with dementia, feeling low, lonely or at a loose end right now.
So we’re inviting you – one and all – to join us to Wind Down and Work Out through a new series of fabulous, friendly, fun FEEL GOOD FOR LIFE get togethers on our award winning program.
Join us and enjoy our fun friendly activities with assistance from specially trained staff. Then relax, chat and catch up with new friends over coffee, tea and biscuits.
We’ve combined some take-it-easy favourites – swimming, table tennis and badminton and pots of coffee and tea and biscuits – so it’s the kind of movement you’ll like and the kind we know inspires chat and laughter, good health and mobility, and so boosts those feel-good endorphins. Hands on activities such as arts, crafts and scrapbooking are also available.
But best of all we have loads of other people, like you, who just fancy trying something different, meeting and making new friends, and feeling all the benefits both bring.
The sessions provide opportunities for people living with dementia, depression or loneliness, and their carers to be active and to socialise. The experience has been made better by taking away barriers in order to create a safe, supportive environment which includes:
- Specially trained staff.
- Each session is run by an experienced member of staff, exercise/swimming instructor and caters for a range of abilities and ages.
- Improved signage to help you find your way around Bridgend Life Centre, Ogmore Valley Life Centre, North Cornelly Community Centre, Hereford Leisure Centre & Leominster Leisure Centre where Feel Good for Life activities take place.
- Use of the larger, unisex changing booths (enabling carers to support clients of different genders)

There is significant evidence to highlight that remaining physically active and mentally stimulated and connected to friends, family & communities, can have on our health and wellbeing.
For those diagnosed with dementia, it doesn’t mean you have to stop doing the activities that you enjoy or stop you trying new things. Research shows that low impact exercise can be beneficial for physical and mental health and can improve the quality of life for people in all stages of dementia. The sessions have many added benefits including:
- Clear your mind and anxiety.
- Improve your mood and encourage positive thought.
- Opportunity to socialise reduce loneliness and have fun.
- Help to ensure a better night’s sleep.
- Improvement of motor skills to effectively improve the function of the brain, in aspects including decision making, problem solving, and movement.
