ABOUT THE POOL
Our outdoor heated 25m 4 lane outdoor pool is situated at the Severn Centre in the lovely town of Highley, Shropshire. With an onsite cafe, vending machines and pool side lawn areas making it perfect for families looking for fun filled aqua activity!
With dedicated adult sessions and other regular activities such as Aquafit and swimming lessons, it also provides for those closing up some serious lengths, boosting their fitness or simply looking for a place to relax. Whether seeking sport, leisure or fun with friends, our open air pool has something for everyone.
GOOD TO KNOW...
When you do come for a swim, there are a few things to be aware of :
- Showers, lockers (£1 coins) and changing cubicles are available
- Toilets
- Accessible changing & shower facilities
- Cafe, vending machines and poolside Snack Shack
- Outdoor picnic area (Picnics should not include barbecues which aren’t allowed at the Centre)
- Free parking with accessible parking spaces

SWIM SESSIONS FOR YOU TO ENJOY
Swim For Fitness
Allows competent swimmers to swim continuously in a lane. You can bring your own training accessories such as fins and paddles to help enhance your session. Ideal for swimmers training for an event or those wanting to improve overall fitness levels, swimming speed and endurance.
Social Swimming
A social swim session you can share with friends, family or colleagues where end-of-length pauses to relax, chat and catch your breath are encouraged. If you enjoy a relaxed swim at a gentler pace (with no structured swimming lanes) or maybe it’s been some time since you last swam and need to build up your water confidence, technique or fitness then this is the session for you.
Family Time
You’ll hear squeals of delight and splashes of water… as you bond as a family, build memories, get fit and have fun. Floats and toys are sure to keep the whole family entertained. Available to family groups only. Not suitable for lone swimmers.
Aqua Aerobics
In this 45 minute water workout you will use the natural resistance of the water to tone, strengthen and sculpt your body with no impact on your joints. A dynamic class to music with easy to follow movements. You go at your own pace so this class is suitable for all ages and abilities.
Quiet Time
We make the following small adjustments to create a welcoming, sensory friendly, gentle and relaxed outdoor pool experience:
- No public announcements on the tannoy system (except in an emergency)
- No music
- Lower capacity so fewer swimmers in the pool
- No jumping or diving
- No shouting or lifeguard whistles (except in an emergency)
Reducing sensory distractions supports a feeling of safety, peace and calm which we hope will encourage people with dementia and those with autism and their families or simply someone wanting a quieter low key session to enjoy swimming in our lovely heated outdoor pool.

HOW TO BOOK
All activities must be pre-booked and prepaid before you set off for the centre
The pool is popular so we advise you book before you travel to the Centre. This is especially true for Family Time sessions and Saturday and Sunday Soaker Sessions.
HALO MEMBERS
- Be sure to register your membership for online services HERE – to allow you to book activities via the Halo Leisure app or the Halo website
- Once you have registered, log into the Halo Leisure Severn Centre app or your member account online to book a pool activity
PAY-AS-U-GO
You don’t have to be a Halo member to use the outdoor pool but can use our facilities on a casual pay-as-u-go basis. You will still need to pre book your activities. The video below shows you how to register for a ‘casual booking membership’ – to allow you to book your swim via the Halo Leisure app or the Halo website.

You have up to two hours before the activity start time to cancel. The easiest way to do this is on the Halo Leisure Severn Centre app.
This allows us to offer the place to someone else.
