Halo's Mobile Falls Prevention Programme in Bridgend County offers a safe and accessible opportunity to reduce the frequency and risk of life changing injuries from falls, through an exercise and movement programme which focuses on improving balance, strength, posture and confidence of those at risk.

Uniquely, the programme reaches out to more isolated members of the community by Halo bringing the exercise programme to you, at your venue or group.

The Programme has been proven to reduce life-changing injuries from falls in older persons’. Halo’s Mobile Falls Prevention Programme has brought the following improvements to local older residents across the County:

Participants risk of falling is reduced by 40%
Improved ability to carry out self care – reducing the reliance on staff, carers and other health professionals
Older people’s perception of their own health improved
Reduced number of falls, ambulance call-outs and hospital admittance

What’s involved in Halo’s Mobile Falls Prevention Programme?

Halo’s Mobile Falls Prevention Programme is a gentle physical activity and movement programme that uses exercises performed while seated or standing to address weaknesses in areas such as:

Balance
Posture
Strength
Confidence

The Programme is delivered by Halo’s specialist team of the National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) instructors who are passionate about supporting people who find exercise challenging for reasons such as medical conditions, mobility issues, age etc. Our staff are highly qualified to Level 4 Postural Stability. The Postural Stability training we use includes the evidence based OTAGO Later Life Training favoured by many physiotherapists.

The Programme aligns with the principles of the delivery of Chronic Conditions Management and supports the delivery of the ‘Move More Often’ programme in care settings.

GOOD TO KNOW...

The Programme is ‘mobile’ in that we will come to you and deliver at your venue or setting. Covid-19 safety protocols will be followed at all times
The option of virtual online delivery is also available
The Programme is delivered over 48 weeks
The duration of exercise classes is tailored to individual needs and group sizes
The class is a mixture of evidence based exercises based on the OTAGO and ‘FaMe’ sequences which were developed to support physical activity in later life focusing on strength and mobility
Other than a chair without arms, no further equipment is needed

Falls Prevention Programme - ONLINE REMOTE DELIVERY

Even if Covid-19 is restricting your ability to hold sessions in a face to face way, Halo’s Mobile Falls Prevention Programme could be provided in an online format. We may even be able to loan you tablets/devices to be able to do this.
