Ian came to Halo when he was 15 years old for work experience in our Ross on Wye centre. Since then he has never looked back.

Early on in Ian’s career with Halo we supported him to achieve his lifeguard qualification. From there Ian went on to gain further training in swim teaching and has also achieved a level 3 certificate in personal training.
Not only does Ian train clients in the gym and hold group exercise classes but he also does duty manager work too. He recently completed an ‘Aspiring Leaders’ managers programme to help him further his career in the health and fitness environment. All of Ian’s training has been provided and fully supported by Halo.
We asked Ian what the best thing about working for Halo is..
Seeing people change and achieve success is what it’s all about. Working with clients who are really self-conscious to begin with and then to see them run 5k and feeling really confident. Seeing someone swim for the first time. It’s all about the people who use our centres and who we work with. It’s what motivates me and what what motivates Halo.
So what would Ian say to someone who wanted to start an apprenticeship with us?
Don’t be afraid to jump in. If you are positive and passionate then Halo will reward you with all the support and training you need and a great environment to work in. Ask us questions and learn as much as you can. Apprenticeships are a great at showing you what’s out there and giving you experience in so many areas of health and fitness.
