Whether you're holidaying here or abroad, here are 10 things you should know...

There is something magical in the mix of sunshine and sport, making new friends while you learn new skills. They're all captured in our brilliant range of summer activities (sports, swimming, arts and crafts) we've got planned for children (up to 12 years) this summer school holiday. Whether you book them in for a few days or a few weeks, check out what they could do (learn, love, laugh about)

Find out whats happening at your local centre...

Pick up a 10p discount on drinks by bringing along your own reusable cups to our cafes! Halo are always looking for new ways to save energy and reduce waste.  And we’ve made great strides reducing our carbon footprint in recent years.  We could use your help, though, when it comes to paper waste in our cafes....

Halo pride themselves on keeping our changing areas and pool sides clean and safe, and one sure way that helps is the use of overshoes. Thousands of people come through our doors every day in all weathers, in all footwear, and from all sorts of places (parks and playgrounds, fields and footpaths) and by encouraging them to remove their shoes in the changing room and poolside (or covering them up with our recycled overshoes).

The pool at the Severn Centre in Highley - saved and refurbished thanks to the sterling efforts of the local community - is opening for lazy days, lovely swims, long picnics and more on 14th of May. Swimming kit at the ready please!

We were thrilled by the number and calibre of applicants bidding for our latest round of Halo Sport Foundation funding. This initiative has proved so powerful for athletes, here in Bridgend County Borough and in Herefordshire since it launched in 2013. Latest figures show that this year we are supporting over 230 athletes in both counties with grants totalling nearly £90,000 plus access to free training facilities at Halo Centres. We can’t wait to see the results as our recipients move forward.

When the weeks stretch out before you the dream of doing nothing looms large. Why wouldn’t it after all that study? But in between the long, lazy mornings and long, late nights, health and wellbeing needs some attention.

We’re offering students a stupendous saving: three months of membership to Halo (and unlimited access to gym, swim, group exercise classes and more) for the price of two.

When buying your Student Summer membership you will enjoy three essential benefits:

Everyone who enjoys sports activities in the hall at Maesteg Sports Centre will have seen the benefit from our conversion to LED lights. This has not only enhances your sporting experience (namely no more yellow tints on courts!) but will save energy too (and 60 per cent of the current annual energy bill).

Keep your kids busy on a Saturday morning by booking them onto our new active junior club at Ogmore Valley Life Centre every Saturday 9.30-11am for just £2.20 per child!

Halo prides itself on listening to its members. In fact so many of the things you love about your local centre have been shaped by your ideas, and things you don’t we’ve made a priority to sort out.
