Spring is the season of 5ks, 10ks and marathons, so our exercise of the month has to be a good run. This is the king of cardio, perfect for those who want to exercise at their own pace (in their own schedule) and if you can work up to even 5 or 10 minutes a day (at slow speeds), you’ll feel the benefits.

Running:

  1. Is good for your overall health and your immune system.
  2. Promotes healthy, consistent weight.
  3. Boosts your confidence
  4. Relieves stress
  5. Can be enjoyed outdoors or indoors on a treadmill at your local Halo gym. In fact - according to all the Halo members who love to run - you’ll love the feeling and may catch the running bug. See you at the gym!

And what better cause to run for? One of our favourite Herefordshire charities is inviting runners in next month’s half marathon (13 May at Hereford Leisure Centre) to use this wonderful day to raise funds for their wonderful work. The hospice admitted its first patient in 1984 and has been caring for the community here in Hereford ever since, thanks to the thousands of kind people who support it. Visit their RUN Hereford Half Marathon page at www.st-michaels-hospice.org.uk/half-marathon to download a sponsorship form or to set up your own JustGiving page. We’ll see you at the start line!

And what better event to prepare for? Runners, cyclists and swimmers now have the Minors Trial Triathlon within their sights.  It all happens at the Highley Severn Centre on 13 May 2018 and more people take part and more money is raised every year.  Organised by Bridgnorth and Severn Centre Triathlon Club and set in the heart of the Shropshire Hills, it promises to be a fabulous day. You can still enter at www.minerstrial.co.uk   - See you at the start line!
