Swimming Lessons

Learning to Swim is a fun and exciting activity and being confident in the water will give your child a great start in life.

Teach your child a core skill that could potentially save their life. Also, just think how more relaxing holidays will be with a child that is confident and safe in the water! Individual and group session available. 

We provide a range of swimming programmes to guide your child's progress through the stages of swimming development.

Lessons, Awards and Instructors

Swimming lessons adhere to the policies of the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), who provide training for swimming teachers throughout the UK and guidelines for swimming programmes. The ASA National Swimming Plan for Teaching Swimming is a major certificate award scheme that allows clearly defined progression for all levels from beginners to competitive swimmers. All of our swimming instructors are qualified to ASA level and have the relevant training and understanding to deliver the National Plan in a structured and progressive manner that will help build self-esteem and confidence.

Parent and Child Lessons
These lessons provide a perfect introduction to the water for children aged between 4 months and 3 years by using toys and games to familiarise them with the water in a safe, comfortable environment.

Children's Lessons
Aimed at children over the age of 4 that are confident enough to attend lessons without the aid of a parent or guardian - they will be taught the main bulk of the National Plan. An ideal starting point for beginners.

Mrs Stocker, from Leominster: "My sons Aaron and Alfie both attend swimming lessons at Halo. Aaron has special needs and I've noticed a real improvement in his coordination since he started lessons. We're going on holiday to Center Parcs this year, and I feel so much happier knowing that both boys are better swimmers and will be able to enjoy their time in the pool thanks to Halo."

Personal Swimming Lessons
If you would like extra tuition from one of our qualified instructors, for yourself or your children, then personal swimming lessons are available.

Crash Course Lessons
A great way to improve technique, develop water skills and improve confidence in a short period of time. During most school holiday periods our centres offer a comprehensive range of intensive swimming lessons that cater for most abilities.

A helping hand for the grown ups too!

We also offer 1-1 and group swimming lessons for adults, perfect if you want to learn to swim before a holiday or improve your confidence and skills.

Gill, from Richard's Castle said: "I had a one-to-one lesson with Josie before a snorkeling holiday. I am a confident swimmer, but wanted to refresh my snorkeling in order to get the best out of my trip. The lesson was so beneficial and helpful, and I really enjoyed it. Josie was very patient. I had a great holiday, too!" Gill was also happy to state that she attends 50+ Mobility Group Exercise Classes at Halo. "I've been attending for about 18 months and the instructor is brilliant. She maintains her cheery and enthusiastic nature and is always pleasant and helpful. The class is great for me as I get to keep moving, but it isn't too taxing on joints and muscles."

Adult and child joint sessions (4 months-3 years)

Introducing babies and very young children to the exciting world of aquatics. The parent or guardian will join the child in the water for the duration of the session.

Pre-school sessions (2 ½ – 3 ½ years)

Following on from the adult and child joint sessions, these fun filled lessons build confidence and skills, without the parent or guardian being in the water.
