Swimming is a fantasic form of exercise. It works all kinds of muscle groups for a full-body exercise but most importantly, it's fun! Swimming suits anybody, no matter your exercise level or swimming ability. Whether you want to relaxing dip to wash away the stress of the day or fancy a competitive sprint, the water truly can work miracles.
Most of our Halo centres in Herefordshire and Bridgend County Borough have a pool so you can be sure you'll never be too far from one. Free Swimming Intitiative
We’re proud to support the Welsh Government’s Free Swimming Initiative (FSI) for children 16 or under, and adults aged 60 or over.
In Bridgend Borough County, we currently offer 250% (21 hours) more free swimming time than that set out in the national minimum criteria for the scheme. We offer a number of free swimming sessions on weekends throughout the year. To participate, you’ll need to register with your local pool where you’ll be given a card that allows access to the pools.Then as soon as you’ve found the best session time for you, you can take the plunge!
Pyle Octopush Club
Octopush, or Underwater Hockey as it's known outside the UK, is a non-contact underwater sport, played by teams of players who use mask, snorkel, fins, and a short stick or pusher to move a puck along the bottom of the swimming pool into the opposing teams goal.
It is a game for men and women from 14 to 77 of mixed ability playing on the same teams. We play for fun and fitness and welcome anyone who would like to give it a try.We play in Pyle Swimming Pool from 9pm to 10pm on Wednesdays.
If you have never played before, your first session is free. Normal fees for an hour session are Adults £5 Students £2.50
What should I bring?
Just bring your normal swimwear and any kit you have (snorkel,mask,fins). If you need to borrow anything we can normally provide some spare kit but try and contact us first so we have a better idea of kit requirements for the session.
