Race for Life preparation, a helping hand from Halo

RACE FOR LIFE PREPARATION A HELPING HAND FROM HALO LEISURE

If you are one of the many women across the county who enthusiastically entered this years Race for Life event but are now faced with the stark reality of completing the 5K course, don’t worry as help as at hand.

Hereford Leisure Centre and Bridge Street Sports Centre are offering FREE Race for Life Preparation Course. Mark Lewis, Hereford Leisure Centres Fitness Supervisor said, “The great thing about the Race for Life event is that anyone can take part regardless of their fitness level, but it is healthier and safer to do some exercise before the day. Whether you plan to walk, jog or run the event, we can help you have a fantastic day out with the girls. The FREE preparation sessions are taking place at both centres.

Hereford Leisure Centre - every Friday night from 6-7pm starting on Friday 7th June until Friday 12th July.
Bridge Street Sports Centre – every Wednesday night from 6.30pm-7.30pm starting on 9th May until Wednesday 10th July.

These sessions are run by Halo’s fitness instructors, they will help you get ready for the big day by increasing your fitness and boosting your energy levels.  “We are keen to share our expertise with women who are doing the event for the first time or those who are starting this challenge from scratch, fitness wise. We will introduce you to gentle exercise to build up your fitness gradually and help you move from slow walking to faster walking or even to jogging."
You will train on the athletic track at Hereford Leisure Centre and on the grass pitches at Bridge Street Sports Centre, which are safe and pleasant environments in which to run. Running can be a rather lonely sport, so this is a great opportunity to meet up and train with other like minded women determined to complete the challenge and raise money for this worthy cause.  Exercising together is a great excuse to have a natter while motivating one another to go that little bit further.  Over the weeks leading up to the event you will pick up useful tips and advice on warming up, stretching and the importance of hydration.  You can attend all of the weeks or dip in and out whenever it suits you and your training. No booking is required just turn up on the night and make your way to the Centre reception. You don’t have to be a Halo member to join in, it is open to any female entrant.

The annual Race for Life event at Hereford this year is taking place at the Race Course on Sunday 14th July  11am.
