Want to give a group excercise class a go but not sure which one's for you? We've tried to give you a flavour of our fitness classes below. Still stuck? Speak to a fitness instructor at your local Halo centre and they will be happy to help you identify the right class.  

Aerobics Classes

Body Step - Bodystep™ is the enereegizing step workout that makes you feel liberated and alive. Using a height-adjustable step and simple movements on, over and around the step.

Aerobics - An rhythmic aerobic exercise class that will raise your heart rate to give you a full body workout. Performing to motivating music with the goal of improving all elements of fitness.

Circuit Training

Circuits - A class with multiple exercise stations focusing on specific muscle groups and components of fitness to give you an all over calorie busting workout.

Circuit Gym Blast - This unique gym base workout routine will allow you to complete a effective total body workout suited to you with the motivation of one of our fitness instructors to encourage you every step of the way. Pick from a selection of program cards that have a pre-planned workout where you will move through a range of cardio and resistance routines while also adding in free weights to help increase strength.

Outdoor Circuits - An outdoor class with multiple exercise stations focusing on specific muscle groups and components of fitness to give you an all over calorie busting workout.

TRX - An high intensity, interval and cardio training class that delivers a fast, effective total body-workout. A dynamic blend of circuit training, using the TRX for a round of intense strength work using your own body weight to increase muscular endurance and will help build a solid core.

TRX Body Blast - Suspension training using your own body weight to develop great fitness and muscle definition. The class is a mix of cardio to build fitness and burn calories as well as strength training to give you a lean, defined body. Easily adjustable to suit all ability levels.

Bootcamp - A full body workout for all abilities aimed at improving movement and fitness. Focussing on a participants weaknesses, builds fitness and strength while combining mobility and endurance levels, guided through a rate of preserved exertion.

Indoor Cycling

Group/Indoor Cycling - Indoor cycling is a group exercise class performed on stationary bikes. During the class, the instructor simulates hill-climbing, sprints, and races. You will be motivated by the instructor, the people around you, and the music.

X Biking - This high intensity, group cycling class is set to music, to create a dynamic heart pumping and fat-burning session.Using atmospheric lighting, this class will help you to achieve your fitness goals in record time.

Resistance Classes

Kettlebells - Kettlebell training will help kick all your fitness goals into high gear! Functional, compound exercises work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, developing strength and muscular endurance and efficient caloric expenditure.

Kettle Blitz - Not for the faint hearted this high intensity workout will challenge you by mixing kettlebell weights, body weight and cardio based exercises. Using  motivating music expect this class to push you to your limits!

Bodypump - The original Les MillsTM barbell class, will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body, fast! Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements, you'll burn fat, gain strength and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning.

Muscle Max - This class tones and conditions muscles with a mix of weights and aerobic movements that will help you lose weight and change your general body shape in a short space of time. Excellent for those wishing to increase lean body mass, improve muscle tone and definition,but without bulking.

Dance Classes

Zumba Fitness - Fusing hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves. Routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms with resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt you while burning fat.

Zumba Toning - Using the recognisable Zumba vibes and moves this class tones your arms, abs and thighs using light weights. Allow our qualified instructors to help you hit your exercise and fitness goals.

Zumba Gold - Zumba Gold uses Zumba techniques and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Fitsteps - Mixing the graceful steps of Ballroom and the up tempo steps of the Latin dances to create a fun, energetic and effective way to stay fit and keep trim that would appeal to everyone.

Kids Zumba - A fun dance-based class to introduce children to the world of exercising to music. The class features a number of authentic latin songs to get the children moving: encouraging them to get fitter whilst having fun.

Line Dancing - Join other dancers and learn some fun Line Dances or just come for the great exercise. Dance class is performed in one or more lines with a repeated sequence of steps to a great range of music. You never need a partner but you can bring all your friends and have a lot of fun. Plus you get exercise without realizing you are actually exercising.

High Impact Classes

Body Attack - Body Attack™ is a sports-inspired cardio workout that's all about improving your speed, fitness, strength and agility. You'll love the group dynamic that's at the heart of Body Attack™.

Body Combat - Body Combat™ is the empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. This fiercely energetic program is inspired by mixed martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as Karate, Boxing, Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Muay Thai.

Insanity - INSANITY™ classes are athletic, drill-based, interval workouts. Inspired by workouts used by athletes to improve their sports performance, this class is a great way to work up a sweat! You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to enjoy it though - INSANITY allows everyday fitness enthisiasts to enjoy the nature and athleticism of drills training in order to acheive their own individual goals - whether that's weight loss or just improving overall fitness.

Toning Classes

Fab Abs - A Class of hardcore abdominal work that focuses on toning and defining the abs while strengthening the back to improve posture and core strength.

Legs, Bums and Tums - Full body aerobic workout building in a whole series of exercises aimed at specifically toning up your legs, bum and tum. Hitting all three key problem areas in one fun-packed but very effective class.

Body Blitz - Body Blitz is resistance based exercise class that combines high and low impact moves with toning and stretching.

Low Impact Classes

Pilates - Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body. The blend of strength and flexibility training improves posture, reduces stress and creates lean muscles without bulking up. Pilates takes a balanced approach so that no muscle group is overworked and the body moves as an efficient, holistic system in sport and daily activity.

Relaxation - This gentle class is ideal for any age to practice breathing exercises and relaxation techniques beneficial to relaxation, stress, anxiety and sleep problems. Using some gentle yoga exercises this class focuses on teaching its participants how to relax, unwind and deal with the stresses of everyday life.

Tai Chi - A Chinese martial art that utilises the body in a moving meditation with the mind focused on inner and outer aspects of the movements.Practice helps combat stress, improve balance, flexibility and ultimately results in increased health and longevity.

Yoga - Yoga is an excellent class suitable for everyone. System of exercises for control of mind and body, improving breathing and alignment. Increase your flexibility and balance, relieve stress and relax!

Yoga Natal - This class uses Yoga and active birth postures that will help during the trimesters and your birth experience. Breathing and relaxation techniques will also be taught which will help calm and relax you and also provide you with the opportunity to meet and gain support from expectant mums.

Baby Yoga - This class focuses on new mums, babies and aids recovery after birth. Focusing on the recovery and well being of mums and encouraging the babies to come from the womb to the room. During this class Mums can relieve stress and tension in the neck, shoulders and lower back while working on  pelvic floor recovery and ultimately a time to relax. For the babies they will experience hip opening sequences, wind relieving postures and much more…

Body Balance - Ideal for anyone and everyone, BODYBALANCE™ is the yoga-based class that will imrpove your mind, body and life. During BODYBALANCE an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Breathing control is part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started. You'll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm, happy and centred.

Yogalates - Fuses the practices of Yoga and Pilates. It effectively merges the ancient practive of Yoga from the East with the core stabilizing, posture enhancing dynamics of Pilates from the West. Yogalates sessions will include exercises and poses (asana) to cultivate strength, stamina, stability and flexibility with particular attention paid to building tone in the deeper postural 'core' muscles. These protect the spine against injury, support the internal organs and foster pelvic and spinal awareness to promote good posture.

50+ Classes

50+ Aerobics - A fun sociable session that involves gentle aerobics focusing on mobility strength and flexibility that can help reduce blood pressure, increase mobility and muscle strength.

Zumba Gold - Zumba Gold uses Zumba techniques and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Water Based Classes

Aqua Fit - A multi-level  water based workout to music that offers both cardiovascular and muscle conditioning using the water's resistance to tone the entire body which remove stress to joints.

Aqua Zumba - Aqua Zumba incorporates all the fun of Zumba Fitness. Being in the water makes the session lower impact and uses the water as resistance. You do not need to be strong swimmer and lifeguards supervise this session.

Aqua Therapy - a water based session for people who suffer with joint problems. Part of the G.P referral programme.

Want a piece of the action?

Members can book a class up to 14 days in advance by contacting their local halo centre or through the book it option at the top of the screen. You don't have to be a Halo member to take part, you can enjoy classes on a pay-as-u-go basis, book in the same way up to 7 days in advance.

The difference a membership makes

With a Halo Complete Membership - you can enjoy fitness classes, swimming, gyms, racket sports, spa facilities. Even if you are only doing 2 classes a week, taking out a Complete Membership will save you money.
